UAxEU: Ukrainian-European cultural exchange

UAxEU: Ukrainian-European Cultural Exchange is an international project that places arts and cultural education at the heart of societal recovery. Through this initiative, leading Ukrainian and European institutions are working together to develop a cultural ecosystem that addresses the sector’s immediate needs: skilled professionals, stronger institutions and vibrant international connections.

The Coalition draws on a broad network of experts and leaders from various cultural sectors to help develop and deliver training and certification programmes. Experienced managers and specialists are involved in the work – as programme co-developers, speakers, facilitators and mentors on topics such as cultural governance, leadership, digital transformation and heritage management.

The Coalition is involved in developing a roadmap aimed at providing a tool for designing educational programmes to address skills gaps in the Ukrainian cultural sector, as well as in establishing professional standards for museum professionals, restorers and conservators. Drawing on the findings of the RES-POL study, the Coalition helps to link real market needs with educational programmes – so that what UAxEU offers actually works.

One of the Coalition’s main responsibilities is organising the Ukrainian Cultural Forum, the project’s final event in 2028. The Coalition will host discussions, share knowledge and, together with Culture Action Europe, help to forge links between Ukrainian and European participants.

Throughout the project, the Coalition provides expert and communication support and ensures the smooth coordination of all participants at the national level.

The participation of Coalition of Cultural Actors in UAxEU represents a contribution to systemic change: the development of standards, the building of partnerships, and the integration of the Ukrainian cultural sector into the European space. Together with our partners, we are working towards the long-term sustainability of Ukraine’s cultural sector.

UAxEU is an international project funded by the Creative Europe programme and coordinated by ELIA (the European League of Institutes of the Arts).
